Dental Fillings in Henderson

Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting the teeth against decay-causing bacteria. The sealants are applied by our 89014 dentist to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often.

Sometimes these dental sealants are also applied to baby teeth when the child’s teeth show the development of grooves and depressions. Baby teeth play a very important role where placement of teeth is concerned and so it is very important to keep these teeth as healthy as possible so that they are not lost too early.

Applying sealants is quite simple and takes only a few minutes. First, the teeth that need to be sealed are properly cleaned by our dentist 89014 then they are dried off and cotton is put around each tooth to keep it dry. An acid solution is the applied on the edges of the teeth to roughen them up as this helps the dental sealant bond better to the teeth. The teeth are again rinsed and dried off and then the sealant is placed over the tooth enamels where it instantly hardens when it comes into direct contact with the tooth. Sometimes a curing light is used to help in the bonding process.

Dental sealants done properly can help protect the teeth from decay for around 10 years, and like all other cosmetic and general procedures, sealants need to be checked for wear and tear.
